NOTES FOR THE PERFORMANCE
● Although the performance looks unstaged , there is still quite a bit of planning and control from the artists.
○ Wool colors chosen with intention from the artists
○ Number of stitches to controlled by the artists to achieve a certain aesthetic
● Wanted to use a female focused craft in a non feminine way. ***
○ HISTORY OF KNITTING- was not only a female craft
○ Steer away from the vagina knitting performance piece
● The involvement of the community is a symbolism of individual vs society, and how both are intrinsically tied together. The people
in your life influence who you were, are and who you will become in the future
● Silent communication between the artist through this action ( we begin to get to know each other through the creation of this web
● The mistakes in the knitting adds an organic element to the art
● Experiences during the performance:
○ There is something quote intimate?? About involving your family and friends and knitting them into the piece.20 minutes is a representation of the time it takes to meet and greet someone on a superficial level, but not long enough to really get to know someone
